Heating season has started — subsidy calculations for October

The Pension Fund of Ukraine reminds households that the heating season runs from 16 October to 15 April, so the housing subsidy for heating in October will be calculated only for part of the month.

The heating period is set from 16 October to 15 April inclusive. For October, the calculation is made for 16 days — from 16 to 31 October inclusive.

Which services the subsidy covers

The list of services covered by the housing subsidy includes: supply of thermal energy, supply and distribution of natural gas, and supply and distribution of electricity for centralised, autonomous and individual heating.

According to the Regulations on the Procedure for Granting Housing Subsidies, approved by resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 21 October 1995 № 848, the calculation of the heating subsidy takes into account the duration of the heating season from 16 October to 15 April inclusive.

How the October subsidy will be calculated

In October the housing subsidy for heating will be calculated for 16 days — from 16 to 31 October inclusive. The number of days during which the service was actually provided does not affect this calculation.

Housing subsidies are paid in the current month for the previous month, so recipients will receive the funds for October in November.

The amount of the subsidy depends on a household’s total income (total income — the household’s aggregate earnings: salary, pension, social benefits, etc.). When calculating, salary, pension, social benefits and other receipts are taken into account, and the period for which incomes are considered depends on when the assistance was granted.

For most citizens, the housing subsidy for the 2026−2027 heating season will be recalculated automatically. Its amount will also be determined automatically for households whose subsidy during the non-heating period amounted to 0 UAH.
