Google unveils Fitbit Edge for $179 with shipping date

Google has unveiled the new Fitbit Edge fitness tracker. The device costs $179, is available for pre-order on the companys website, and deliveries to customers will begin on 27 October 2026.

The tracker features a 1.34-inch rounded display with a 46% larger viewing area compared with previous generations, and redesigned physical buttons with haptic feedback. The case is 11.5 mm thick and weighs 17.7 grams.

The device runs on an Ambiq AP5 MCU chip and has a 65 mA·h battery, which will provide up to 7 days of operation on a single charge. The interface is borrowed from the Pixel Watch 5 and shows key statistics on the main screen: steps, weather forecast and quick access to workouts.

Flexible tiles display data from Google Health, including sleep, the menstrual cycle and heart rate. Other features include Google Maps, media controls, call and message notifications, and a large library of customisable watch faces and interchangeable straps.

The Fitbit Edge supports more than 50 workout modes with real-time guidance, and the updated global positioning system (GPS) chip locates position up to 40% more accurately. The aluminium case with a nano-coating includes an altimeter; the device automatically tracks activity and recognises up to 100 types of workouts.

The tracker collects background data on blood pressure trends and insulin resistance and will alert users to high or low heart rates. An electrocardiogram (ECG) app allows users to assess their heart rhythm at any time, and a skin temperature sensor tracks nocturnal fluctuations together with sleep-stage analysis and heart rate variability (HRV) metrics.

The Fitbit Edge is available in four colours: Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon, and also offers interchangeable straps, including breathable sport and metal options. A separate Stephen Curry Special Edition in his signature colours costs $219.
