The Ministry of the Interior and Administration has prepared a draft regulation proposing to raise the minimum amount of funds foreigners must have when entering and staying in Poland.
New minimum amounts for short and long trips
Under the draft, a foreigner planning to stay in Poland for no more than four days must have at least 1000 zloty to cover accommodation costs; the current minimum is 300 zloty. For longer trips, the requirement would increase to 300 zloty for each day of stay instead of the current 75 zloty.

The required amount may be proven in the equivalent in a foreign currency. For Ukrainians planning trips to Poland, this will change the amount of cash or equivalent they need to have when crossing the border.
Requirements for people with prepaid stays
Separate thresholds are set for participants in tourist excursions, youth camps and sporting events, as well as for people with prepaid stays, those arriving at medical and sanatorium facilities, and participants in seasonal work programmes during holidays.

For this category, the draft provides a minimum of 130 zloty per day, but in total not less than 650 zloty. Currently, the requirements for this group are 20 zloty per day and at least 100 zloty for the whole period.
Threshold for students, academics and researchers
Foreigners coming to Poland for studies, training, courses, scientific research or to carry out research work will be required to have 2020 zloty to cover expenses for the first two months of the planned stay. Currently the minimum for this category is 1270 zloty.
The ministry explained that raising the minimum amount is intended to ensure foreigners have funds to cover expenses not included in the cost of prepaid accommodation, meals or other services that support their stay in the country.
