The first foldable iPhone Duo sold out within hours

American company Apple said demand for its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, was “simply extraordinary”, and within a few hours of sales opening the device had sold out on the companys website.

Official statement and sales

“Demand during the pre-order phase for the iPhone Duo our first foldable iPhone has been simply incredible. We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into the hands of our customers as quickly as possible,” Apple said in an official statement.

The company recorded a complete sell-out on its website within hours of opening orders. At the same time, Apple will continue to accept online orders for the new model.

Price and supply constraints

The iPhone Duos starting price is $1999, and the companys market capitalisation in its description is $5 trillion. Despite the sales, the manufacturer has encountered a shortage of components, particularly memory chips.

Because of component problems, Apple is unable to fully meet demand, and has also raised prices across its product range. Initial delivery dates, which were due to be completed by 23 October, shifted to the end of January 2027 after sales opened on the website.

Delivery times and operators’ response

On the company’s site, delivery windows for new orders were pushed back to January 2027. US mobile operators’ fulfilment times for new orders have also been significantly delayed.

Sources note that such lengthy delays to Apple product deliveries are extremely rare.
