Ministry of Finance: UAH 329.5 billion for pensions in nine months and payment reductions in October

The Ministry of Finance (MinFin) said that over the first nine months of 2026 UAH 329.5 billion was allocated for pension payments, but in October some pensioners noticed that the amount of their pension had decreased.

Checking pension calculations and correcting errors

If a payment has been reduced, the first step is to establish the cause: contact a Pension Fund service centre or use the Fund’s electronic services to check the information on calculations. If it is established that the reduction was due to an error or an incorrect recalculation, the individual has the right to request a review of their pension file.

If an error is confirmed, the Pension Fund must make the additional calculations and return the underpaid amounts. Lawyers emphasise that pensioners may appeal decisions to reduce a pension; if the issue is not resolved by the Fund’s bodies, it is possible to take the case to court.

Insurance record, additional payments and application deadlines

Specialists advise checking whether the full insurance record has been taken into account — that is, periods of employment for which contributions were paid — as well as any additional payments, benefits and other components of pension provision. Inaccuracies in documents or missing information often lead to underpayments.

The required insurance length is more than 35 years for men and more than 30 years for women who retired after 1 October 2011; for those who retired earlier it is more than 25 years for men and more than 20 years for women. Regarding the submission of a pension application: the document may be submitted no earlier than one month before reaching pension age.

For example, if a person reaches 60 in October 2026, they may submit the application in September 2026, but not earlier than that date.
