Idea Bank: deposit portfolio grew by 1.2 billion UAH to 6.2 billion UAH

Idea Bank has reported that as of the beginning of October 2026 the portfolio of individual deposits increased by 1.2 billion UAH and reached 6.2 billion UAH.

Growth of term deposits and demand deposits

Term deposits remain the main driver of growth: their volume increased from 4.2 billion UAH at the start of the year to 5.3 billion UAH as of 1 October 2026. Term deposits account for 85% of the total portfolio of individual funds.

Over the nine months of 2026 the overall deposit volume rose by 24%, and over the last 12 months the portfolio of individual deposits increased by 33%.

“Demand deposits also show positive dynamics: their volume increased from 0.8 billion UAH at the start of 2026 to 1 billion UAH as of 1 October 2026. For us, this is above all a confirmation of clients’ continued trust in the bank and its deposit products even amid heightened economic uncertainty,” said a member of the management board of Idea Bank, director of business development Volodymyr Malyi.

Advantages of term deposits and popular maturities

According to the bank, clients most often choose deposits with terms of 6 and 12 months — these make up 80% of all term deposits. This choice, the bank says, allows savers to lock in returns for a prolonged period while retaining flexibility in financial planning.

The bank noted that the level of the rate remains an important factor, but clients also pay attention to other benefits, including bonuses for online sign-up, additions for new customers, loyalty programmes and more flexible conditions for topping up deposits.

“Today banks compete not only on rates. For many clients the deciding factors are ease of application, quality of service and the ability to manage their savings in a convenient digital format. Clients pay attention to the bank’s reliability, service quality, the ability to open and manage a deposit remotely, speed of service and the convenience of the mobile app. Many decisions are made not just on a difference of a few tenths of a percent in rate, but because of the ability to open a deposit, top it up or manage funds through the O.Bank app in a few clicks. As of the beginning of October 2026, the share of deposits opened via Idea Bank’s mobile app O.Bank reached 62%,” said a member of the management board of Idea Bank, director of business development Volodymyr Malyi.

Rates and the macroeconomic context

The member of the management board of Idea Bank also noted that 6- and 12-month deposits remain the most popular among savers and that inflation and regulator decisions will affect the deposit market. In his view, should rates be adjusted, medium- and long-term deposits will be affected first.

Recall that on 29 October 2026 the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) raised the key policy rate to 16.5%; it was noted that this decision is intended to support the attractiveness of hryvnia-denominated assets and the stability of the foreign exchange market.
