Banks are reducing OVDP, while the population adds about 4 billion each month
In January 2026, the banks' OVDP portfolio fell by 9 billion UAH to 922,67 billion UAH. PrivatBank cut its positions by 23,07 billion UAH, while the population adds about 4 billion UAH each month.
Ukrainians have 153 million cards and only a third of them are active
Ukrainian banks issued about 153,2 million cards but only about 61,1 million were active. The difference is explained by state programmes and by people having several cards.
September spending of Ukrainians — what they bought most often
Ukrainians' September spending showed that supermarkets and petrol stations account for the majority of expenditures. Payments via POS terminals totalled 22 bn UAH, the average receipt across the network was 443 UAH.
Ukrainians' deposits grew to 504,2 billion UAH — who benefited most
Over the eight months of 2026, household term deposits rose by 37,3 billion UAH to 504,2 billion UAH. Almost all the increase was in UAH, and most went to PrivatBank, Oschadbank and monobank.
