Experts at Фінкульту explained four steps on how to move from a dream to a concrete financial goal and start saving money. They provided calculation examples and tips on finding funds for saving.
Four steps to a financial goal
To turn an intention into real savings, you need to decide exactly what the money is for, how much it will cost and over what timeframe you plan to save. The piece suggests using a simple four-step plan that helps break a large goal into manageable parts.
The experts recommend writing down the goal, its cost, the saving period and the amount of regular contributions. If possible, make the first contribution today — even 50 or 100 UAH.
Example and calculation of contributions
As an example, the article uses headphones costing 3,000 UAH as a financial goal. In this case the target sum is 3,000 UAH.
If you plan to save this amount over six months, you need to set aside 500 UAH each month or approximately 125 UAH per week. At the same time, take into account your own income and mandatory expenses so the chosen amount is affordable.

Sources of funds and money‑saving habits
You can start saving without increasing your income by reviewing daily expenses and finding opportunities to cut costs. Examples include giving up unnecessary small purchases, pausing before an impulse buy, and cancelling subscriptions you hardly use.

Saved money should be directed to the specified financial goal, and the experts recommend following the rule: “Pay yourself first.” Even small changes in daily habits can gradually bring you closer to the desired result.
