The declaration was signed by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Space and Nvidia. The parties plan to create a joint initiative to develop advanced physical AI models and to promote wider adoption of AI in German industry.

The Industry 4.0 platform will be involved in the work, bringing together representatives from government, business, academia and industry associations. The German chancellor called on leaders of the Mittelstand to allow algorithms access to the datasets their companies have accumulated.
Nvidia’s investments in German startups
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI will not replace German engineers but will enhance their skills: “This knowledge belongs to you; it cannot be replaced — it is a chance to reboot the country’s engineering legacy.” According to Merz, Germany wants to become one of the world’s leading hubs for the use of AI in mechanical engineering, the automotive industry and among suppliers to the car industry.

Huang also announced plans to invest in four German startups: Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo and Reflex Aerospace. Nvidia has previously invested in n8n, Neura Robotics and Black Forest Labs, and these investments are part of a commitment to direct almost $10 billion to support companies, universities and research institutions in Europe.
