What’s new in the Octavia Hybrid
The Skoda Octavia Hybrid has debuted as the brand’s first full-hybrid model. The car features a 1.5-litre petrol engine, two electric motors and a 1.6 kWh battery, making it a clear example of the marque’s move to more complex hybrid systems.
Buyers will be offered variants with different combined outputs. The base TSI unit rated at 131 hp yields a combined 136 hp, while the other 150 hp option has a total output of 170 hp; top speed in both versions is limited to 180 km/h.

Hybrid technology and operating modes
The system is built on a series-parallel layout with a single-speed automatic transmission. One of the electric motors acts as a generator and starter for the internal combustion engine (ICE), while the other drives the front wheels and recuperates energy during braking.
At low speeds the Octavia Hybrid can travel around 2 km on electric power alone. Up to 60 km/h the car can operate in series-hybrid mode, where the petrol engine drives the generator and the electric motor turns the wheels; above 60 km/h the system switches to parallel mode, where the main load is carried by the 1.5-litre engine and the electric motor engages to assist.

Variants, equipment and market launch
The hybrid systems will be available for the Skoda Octavia Hatchback and Estate in Selection and Sportline trim levels. Standard equipment includes a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment system, and a special ‘Hybrid’ badge will appear on the tailgate.
Orders will open in October, with first deliveries scheduled for December. Price has not yet been announced; for reference, the Octavia Selection with mild hybrid in the Czech Republic starts from 689 900 Czech koruna, which is about $31 660.
