Fuel prices on 9 October — who cut prices and where it’s cheapest to fill up

How drivers, business owners and currency buyers feel it

When you walk up to the pump, the numbers on the display decide a lot. For a private driver, a difference of a few hryvnia per litre is felt immediately when filling a full tank. For a business owner with a fleet, those same hryvnias multiply across hundreds of litres and become a significant expense item.

If you do not have enough cash on hand, a credit card can always give you more flexibility. Choose one in the special catalogue on Finance.ua. It can help you spread payments over time or take advantage of cashback when refuelling.

What changed at petrol stations and what the current prices are

Major chains OKKO, WOG and SOCAR are keeping prices for premium petrol and diesel unchanged. Petrol in the 100 series is sold within 102,90−104,00 UAH/l. That means stability for those filling the premium class.

The «Укрнафта» network reduced the price of 95 Energy petrol immediately by 3 hryvnias to 88,90 UAH/l, matching it with standard A‑95. Autogas prices are moving differently across chains. OKKO and SOCAR raised the price of gas by 1 hryvnia to 47,90 UAH/l. WOG also added 1 hryvnia and set the highest market price at 48,90 UAH/l. Discount chains left prices unchanged and sell gas at 43,40 UAH and 44,90 UAH per litre at «Укрнафта» and UPG respectively.

Why analysts think fuel might get cheaper

Analysts link possible fuel price falls to the easing of geopolitical risks. After the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, prices for petrol and diesel in Ukraine could fall below 60 UAH per litre, and cheaper prices would be aided by increased global oil production — this was suggested by the director of the Консалтингова група «А‑95» Serhii Kuiun said.

According to him, in that case prices at Ukrainian petrol stations could not only return to pre‑hostilities levels but fall below them. This is a forecast, so it depends on the real development of events in the global oil sector and on supply logistics.

How prices have changed before and what you should do today

The price history shows sharp jumps. A year ago, in September 2025, A‑95 petrol cost on average 58,77 UAH per litre. By the end of the year the average price had barely changed and was 58,33 UAH. At the start of 2026 prices rose: February — 61,07 UAH, April — 72,68 UAH. At the start of summer, the average cost was 75,15 UAH, and by the end of August it had crossed the mark above 80 UAH per litre.

What to do right now is known to every driver and fleet manager. First, check prices between chains — premium remains stable, but A‑95 at «Укрнафта» now costs 88,90 UAH per litre. Second, if you refuel with liquefied petroleum gas, pay attention to discount chains — they have prices of 43,40 and 44,90 UAH per litre. Third, for those who need payment flexibility, you can use a credit card and find an option in the special catalogue on Finance.ua.

Typical situations differ. A private driver with a small tank benefits from choosing the nearest discount station or a promotion in the local network. A fleet manager benefits from calculating an average price for a large volume and can plan replenishment where it is cheapest. There are no strict deadlines or documentary actions that must be carried out urgently because of these changes.
