According to Opendatabot, from January to September 2026, over 222 thousand sole proprietors were registered in Ukraine; this year 66 thousand more businesses were opened than closed. Among the most common directions are tutoring, training courses and children’s activities.
What you need to start
To work as a tutor you need subject knowledge or teaching skills, a developed programme of lessons, a client base and tools for distance learning. Popular areas are foreign languages, mathematics, exam preparation, programming and creative activities.
The lowest entry threshold when working online: main costs — a laptop, a quality microphone, webcam, subscriptions to platforms (Zoom, LMS systems) and targeted advertising on social media. If there is a regular student base, this allows building a steady income.

Costs for online and offline formats
За онлайн-форматом вкладення здебільшого пов’язані з технікою та сервісами: ноутбук, мікрофон, вебкамера та платні сервіси для трансляцій і організації занять. Маркетинг у соцмережах теж називають ключовою статтею витрат на старті.
Offline centres require additional investments: renting premises (with a mandatory shelter), furniture, equipment, renovations and licensing formalities. The state provides grants for children’s centres and vocational training, and some foreign funds finance retraining courses for internally displaced persons (IDPs), their children and veterans.

Earnings and regional specifics
The potential net income of a teacher with a regular student base is 15−50 thousand UAH per month. A small educational centre with several teachers can generate more, but will require additional administrative expenses.
In front‑line regions online education and demand for psychological rehabilitation through creativity are in demand, while in western regions (Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano‑Frankivsk) there is increased demand for children’s centres and clubs due to family relocation. In large cities there is high competition in the market for IT courses, business education, EdTech and foreign languages.
