Google is introducing a new type of warning in Chrome about potentially dangerous sites that will trigger before those sites are actually opened. The company says the updated Enhanced Protection mode makes users ten times more protected from phishing and other scams compared with standard protection.
The feature works when the browser’s Enhanced Protection mode is enabled. Among other updates is protection against ClickFix attacks: in such schemes fraudsters convince users that a problem has appeared on their computer and offer to fix it by copying code and running a command, after which malware is downloaded.

In Enhanced Protection mode Chrome will detect potentially dangerous commands, clear clipboard data and analyse it, then warn the user about the danger. The setting should block or warn against executing malicious commands copied to the clipboard.
In addition, in the same mode the use of Gemini for security incidents will be activated: whereas the AI previously ran directly on the device, going forward a more powerful cloud model will carry out the analysis and help detect fake antivirus software and bogus browser updates.

You can enable the mode in Chrome’s settings under “Privacy and security” — “Security” — “Enhanced Protection”.
