According to Agrohub, the average rental payment after taxes in Ukraine is 5.9 thousand UAH per hectare, based on the first land benchmarking study, which covered 753 thousand contracts and 1.2 million ha.
Average rental payment
The average rental payment after taxes is 5.9 thousand UAH/ha. This is the amount that the landowner actually receives.

Values vary significantly depending on region, soil quality and competition among agricultural companies. Even within the same oblast there are noticeable fluctuations, and at the level of individual districts differences can be roughly up to 20%.
What determines land rental rates
Rent levels are influenced by the balance of supply and demand on the local market: in regions with better conditions for agricultural production companies compete more actively for plots, driving up rates. Moisture deficits and other climate risks reduce the potential productivity of the land and the demand for it.
According to Oksana Bobrova, Head of Products at Agrohub in Ukraine, rental payments are formed primarily under the influence of competition on the local market and the economic potential of land use. The full-scale war has also affected the market: some agricultural companies lost access to land due to occupation and are seeking opportunities to expand their land banks in other regions.
Additional payments and research methodology
In addition to the base rent, agricultural companies offer landowners additional financial and other support, including material assistance, reimbursement of legal costs, gift packages and agricultural services. The list and scale of such payments depend on the policy of the specific company.

For 2025 contracts such additional payments were provided in agreements covering about 57% of the total sampled land area, and on average owners received around 440 UAH/ha. The study was conducted in August–September 2026 based on 2025 data; it covered 753 thousand lease contracts with a combined land bank of participants of 1.2 million ha.
