From January to September 2026, more than 222 thousand new individual entrepreneurs (FOPs) were registered in Ukraine; the number of business openings exceeded closures by 66 thousand FOPs.
Demand for repair services and grant opportunities
Repair of cars, computers and household appliances remains one of the small‑business areas with high demand, especially for specialised services where there is a shortage of skilled technicians. The average age of the vehicle fleet in Ukraine is rising, while logistical activity in the regions remains high.

Demand for mobile tyre fitting and roadside repairs has increased by 30−40%. This niche is also included in grant programmes: under the «єРобота» programme veterans can receive up to 2.5 million UAH.
Equipment and preparing the premises
Opening a car service requires investment in renting and preparing a bay or an equipped van (with ventilation, electrics and a durable floor) and having technical skills. Initial outlays depend on the scale and specialisation of the business.

Specialised equipment required includes:
- lifts,
- tyre fitting machines,
- diagnostic scanners,
- compressors,
- tools and consumables,
- reliable spare‑parts suppliers.
Potential profit and regional characteristics
The potential net profit of a small workshop with steady workload is 25−100 thousand UAH per month. If the owner performs repairs personally, they can save on hiring a mechanic; income will then depend on productivity and the number of orders.
STO services are especially in demand in border and transit regions to service commercial transport and cars from Europe. In agricultural regions there is high demand for repair of farm machinery, and the growing number of electric cars increases the need for repair of such vehicles.
